How to Keep From Being Banned by the Search Engines

Search engines have established some definite rules that must be followed by an individual or a business that is attempting to search engine optimize a website venue. If these rules are not followed, a website can be deleted (sometimes permanently) from a search engine. In short, the penalties for failing to follow the rules that have been established by search engines in regard to appropriate SEO practices are severe and serious.

When a person is considering what needs to be done in order to avoid being banned by search engines, reference oftentimes is made to “White Hat SEO” versus “Black Hat SEO.” The distinction between these two SEO practices really is obvious on the surface. White Hat SEO is a search engine optimization regimen that is developed around the rules that have been established by the various search engines.

As one might imagine, Black Hat SEO involves attempting to search engine optimize a particular website venue through the usage of disapproved search engine optimization methodologies. Examples of Black Hat SEO include:

- hiding text on a website by making the text the same color as the background of a particular website page

- hiding text by placing outside the parameters of a computer screen of a user

- the process of cloaking – which sends a user to a page even if that particular page was not requested via an appropriate search engine search.

There are, of course, other Black Hat SEO methods. However, these are common practices that must be avoided if you intend to avoid being banned from search engines.
